As if those two things didn't already go hand-in-hand. Skinny Steelers fans are hard to come by, and I'm allowed to say that because I'm a fellow Steelers fan. Like how black people can get away with...

Anyway, this video is fairly recent (any 2009 is fairly recent), and shows Ralphie obviously pandering to a Pittsburgh crowd. He does some cliche jokes about Bradshaw being a hick and Cowher having a porno mustache, but he did incite one brief chuckle from yours truly. May compared living in North Carolina (where Cowher moved after leaving the Steelers) to shooting yourself in the head. Now, I've only ever lived in Pittsburgh (for 99% of my life), South Jersey for about a minute (which would easily relate to being shot in the head) and NYC (where I am now). I had a buddy tell me that North Carolina was the shit like two weekends ago, so I'm not sure if Ralphie knows what he's talking about.
Oh, and the audio sucks. Plus, he says some dirty words, so be careful if you're at work. Or if you know of people that get pissed off at F words with a distinctive, Youtubey static hum behind them.
You may remember when I interviewed Carl Joseph back in January. Carl is a one-legged former athlete (as seen on Deadspin and With Leather) who was invited to Pitt Panther training camp by coach Jackie Sherrill back in the early 80s. I asked Carl to write his thoughts about his time in Pittsburgh, and he gladly obliged.
At the time, Carl was happy to be nominated for the Florida High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame, an honor I truly believed he deserved.
So it with great pleasure that I can pass along that Carl was just informed of his induction! PSAMP sends out the biggest congratulations ever!
Former college football coach Jackie Sherrill, a mentor to Joseph, reacted to the announcement by saying, “Congratulations to the selection committee for recognizing a young man who is not in the record books for points, total yardage, sacks or tackles but rather for his ability to inspire the sports world and motivate us to believe we can do anything if we really never, ever give up.”
Frank Yanossy, Joseph’s high school football coach, said, “There is no one individual more worthy of this award.”
Joseph, now a special needs teacher and prep football coach, was elated by his selection. “I feel really blessed that after all these years an honor like this could happen to me,” he said. “When I was a little kid, I used to actually dream about playing varsity sports in high school. But now, to be among these great athletes, that’s something I never could’ve imagined.”
Joseph, who is a bishop in his church and a gospel singer, said his inclusion in the hall of fame gives hope to everyone, especially disabled people, “that anything is possible if you put your mind to it and never quit.”
And this was no sympathy pick, either. Watch that video at the interview link. Dude could tear it up. At least better than I could with both of my legs.
Congrats again, Carl!no comments
Ahhh, first MPotD at the new site. Sick.
Stealing images is fun. Stealing images that have a stock watermark over it...priceless. However, I'll throw a link to Shutterstock because I'm a nice guy. And thanks to Doug, creator of the original PSAMP MOVING CO.Photoshop, for sending these pics my way.
Remember, email me pictures of miniature horses. I will use them and mention your cool name. Fun!
Also fun are these links (said Yoda? wtf?):

As an aside, I apologize for my lack of anything substantial other than Gunaxin's takeover post. Figures the day I open the new site, everything will go smoothly with the transfer...and my work computer would get a virus. Sucks. Go ahead and hate.
Regular schedule should resume tomorrow. You know, MPotD, actual Pittsburgh sports, etc.
With the Penguins playing the Caps yesterday, I decided to partake in a little gentleman's bet with my good buddies over at Gunaxin, who just so happen to be Caps fans. Losing team/blogger would let the other post ridiculous, team-specific garbage on the opposing site, blah, blah, blah.
Of course, the Pens lost, and today just so happened to be the launch of the all-new PSAMP. So I had to let the mouth-breathers at Gunaxin take over a post, which is what you'll see below. Or over at their place, too.
Enjoy, I guess.
In honor of the Capitals win over the Penguins today, I thought I would present some highlight videos of the players involved. Of course we need to start by looking at the best player in the World, Alex Ovechkin, with both "The Goal" and "The Sequel" along with these other highlights
...and his buddy Alexander Semin
...and "The Setup Man," Nicklas Backstrom
... and your Norris Trophy winner, Mike Green:
Together they are called the Young Guns, and they make up the most talented young collection of players in the league. Yeah, you heard me, in the League.
So the Penguins fans don't feel left out, here is the WhinyCindy Crosby:
And some Malkinlove for yah, too.
and now some highlights from today's game:
"What I can say about him?" Ovechkin said. "He is a good player, but he talks too much.""What, I can't play hard against him? What is he going to do, cry?"
This post ushers in a new era at PSAMP. I've thrown the old blogspot b.s. out with the trash (not really, the page still exists as a tribute) and upgraded the look. Figured I'd do a little intro.
I've been in contact with Derek at Bloguin since before Christmas, and it was a difficult decision to make the leap. I love the simplicity of the old digs, but I'd been looking for an updated design and software for some time. I had offers to join startup networks in the past, but none had the same good vibes as Bloguin. Plus, I have allies like my buds at The Pensblog and WHYGAVS?. As of my writing this, we have Pittsburgh representing a high percentage of the blogs at the network.
I'm a pretty simple guy, so I tried to make the new site as similar to the original as possible. The only main change is the new software/design and the inclusion of ads. Make fun of me for "selling out," and please insult any advertisement that should pop up. I"LL HAVE MY OWN "FIVE DOLLAR FOOTLONG," "THIS IS OUR COUNTRY," SAVED BY ZERO" repetitious ads for you to hate. I'd rather you do.
Leave comments to let me know you made the journey from the land of the blogspot unscathed. And understand that we're making this jump together. PSAMP has always been about the readers and sports fans, and I trust you'll land over here safely. We're kinda like the baby ducks in this clip, learning to fly together:
Ahh, thanks BBC's Planet Earth. You summed it up perfectly.
So yeah, check out the new ride! And let me know what you think. I'll see you in a bit...I'm taking this baby out to go cruise for hot chicks.
If you need a place for a wide range of Pittsburgh Internet links, TAE's Links N'@ is always a good place to start. I only say this now because they picked up on one of my stories today.
I'm always up front with you when I'm shamelessly self-promoting. This is no different. Look, I've gotten links from sweet places like Deadspin, The Big Lead, Sports Illustrated, ESPN the Mag, Yahoo!, ESPN's Jim Rome is Burning, the Post Gazette and so on...but a local news station might tickle me moreso. It might not bring in the same level of traffic, but come on, I definitely watched TAE, KDKA and those guys long before I knew what sports were. And yes, I'm talking about my infancy.
TAE scratched my back, so I give 'em a link in return. Don't hate. You'd do the same.
/ends shameless self promotion
I don't want to get ahead of myself and start making claims that "THE SEASON IS TURNED AROUND," but in this instance, it's acceptable.
We have huuuge games coming up this weekend against Philly and Washington, and if we can scrape a few points out of these contests, then hopefully the Pens can pull back into the playoff picture. The Pensblog pulled out Hacksaw to re-ignite the team...I'll point to someone that was at the game last night.
This dude watched the Pens beat the Canadiens first hand, and his hair will be the spark that helps the Pens make the playoffs. Or it'll be the the reason we crash and burn epically. I still haven't decided.
But if you thought I'd go a day at PSAMP without mentioning a dude with a coif this sweet, then you really don't understand what PSAMP is all about. Good for Bylsma for getting the guys to play well, good for Sergei for getting on the board, good for Geno for flying around like a madman last night. But good for this guy for bringing that hair to the arena.
We all appreciate it.
I'm an idiot.
h/t to Nate for the screengrab
For whatever reason, I love it when I can't make a picture larger. Makes 'em seem that much more exclusive, or something. Or I'm just dumb. These guys love hanging out in the meadow. Nothing wrong with that.
Nothing wrong with any of these links, either:
