Monday Morning Chrysler New Yorker

Man the Steelers really pushed my “keep calm” mantra to the limit, didn’t they? Even with Kansas CIty jumping to an early 10-point lead, they didn’t do much to put the game away. And that included getting into the end zone 2 more times, only on a holding-negated pass and a nonsense tuck rule “fumble” return. Ben and Mike Wallace hooked up on an incredible TD and Byron Leftwich didn’t mess up the game like Matt Cassel did.

16-13 Steelers, OT.

As of about 1:30 AM this morning (right now when I’m writing this), Ben’s shoulder is separated. I have no idea what that does for his status during the coming Ravens-Browns-Ravens gauntlet. This could be an interesting week.

Ben’s Shoulder:

Ben’s shoulder DID connect on that unreal Mike Wallace TD, so credit where credit is due. Only now there’s no way of knowing how healthy Ben’s shoulder will be in the coming days/weeks. Yikes. 2 of 5 motorcycle helmets for Ben’s shoulder.

Byron: Byron Leftwich hasn’t played in 2 years. He has absolutely no touch on any of his throws. But he led the team to 3 points to take the lead in the 2nd Half. He also threw less game-losing INTs than Matt Cassel. I can live with that. 3 of 5 motorcycle helmets.

Defense: The Chiefs’ TD drive was efficient, end of story. Other than that, the defense played well. In the 2nd Half, Kansas Cit started with a missed FG and 4 straight 3-an-outs before the game-tying FG near the end of the game. Sure, it shoudln’t have been close enough for KC to tie anything, but Buron Leftwich was seriously out there on the other side. Brett Keisel had 2 nice sacks and Lawrence Timmons came up big early in OT to give the game to the home team. 13 points given up, D did work. 4 of 5 motorcycle helmets.

Suis: 3 of 3 FGs in the poor, rainy conditions. And he got to kick a 1st Down FG. Name another kicker that has done that off the top of your head. 5 of 5 motorcycle helmets.

Late games mean I slightly mail in the recaps. Ravens next week and we got a short week to come to grips with potentially having no Ben in the lineup.
